Metal Zone is very glad to interview the band called “Belphegor”.
Hi! Would you quickly introduce your band to our readers?
Helmuth: BELPHEGOR formed in 1993. Back then we were inspired by some of the most aggressive Deathmetalbands and later also incorporated highspeed Blackmetal influences into our sound, which since then became one of our trademarks.
Well, and here we are. U know, nowadays death/ black metal rules the world and is the strongest, the most archaic of all kinds. We always have to search for evolution and explore the music, and bring it a bit further each time, thats the masterplan.
Stagnation means death!!!

I heard you are recording a new album “Bondage goat zombie”:would you talk about it in detail?
The album is out now. I think, BONDAGE GOAT ZOMBIE is our most mature effort up to day, this time we have managed to melt ultra blastbeats and heaviness to one union, such a huge evolutionary step for this band in terms of sound, songwriting and the musicianship.
The nine tracks reached a higher level of complexity, dynamics and structured brutality. No bullshit when I say we will give the demons the strongest songs we’ve ever made.

There are stylistic differences with the previous work?
I dont compare albums, we talk about music.
U know, each time and album we give our best,....i combine every album with a certain period of life, if you know what i mean.
Anyways, BONDAGE GOAT ZOMBIE reflects what we represent anno 2008, in musical sense and how we wanted to sound.

What do you expect from this new album? And how are the reviews?
We´ll do what we always do, to keep the fire burning,.....to try to unleash more energy, more passion u know, to give the crowd ultimate hell.
The manikks are the reason why we are here, why we practise so hard to get better, to raise intensity and dynamic, u know they deserve only the best.
Lemme tell u, we are now there for so much time, and it still is fun, the feeling to produce hard music is still in us, I'd say we are even more ambitious than ever before. Its amazing,...alot of really euphoric feedback from all the relevant magazines, media etc. There are definitely a lot of ppl taking notice on this one and we are glad.

Who is the author of the album cover?
Ralph Manfreda an ingenious artist from Austria followed my suggestions and did an amazing job, it look goddamn sick and morbid. I dig it and it was a pleasure to work with him again.

Why a title as “Bondage goat zombie”? And what it represents?
The topics are, Bondage, S/M, and the devil, it fits perfect to the majestetic hymns, this time the lyrics are focused on Marquis de Sade (1740-1814).
Most people don't realize the word "sadism" comes from Marquis de Sade's name.
The album title fits perfectly with the concept, verses, thats always important.
BONDAGE: The album deals with bondage, S/M all the fetish stuff, you know and overall inspired by the themes in the work of Marquis de Sade.
GOAT: Our trademark since the end of the ninties.
ZOMBIE: This goes along with my opinion that there are people who are brainless, fucked up zombies who sleep-walk the earth, infesting it like a fukking plague.
U know, its about rebellion, free will to take your own decision, follow your own path and do not let them break your will.
In my opinion freedom is the most important thing in life.

What is the band that has a heavy influence on your style and what kind of music do you listen nowadays?
If it says BELPHEGOR on the outside, it`s BELPHEGOR what you fucking get har har.

How you define your genre?
Well, i don´t want to label the BELPHEGOR sound, i´ll leave that up to the listener, they should decide how they want to call that inferno.
BELPHEGOR will continue to keep the fucking devil and demonic spirit in metal music alive, thats all what u have to know.

What means metal music for you?
Metal 4 life. I see the extreme Metal scene is growing again worldwide, so its a good time, u know - its great that ppl are interested again in shredding Metal music.

Projects for the future?
To promote the new album BONDAGE GOAT ZOMBIE on stage, to kill musically in the name of the devil and to recruite new followers for the crusade of Death/ Black Metal, thats the masterplan.
